Viewing the ominous monoliths of Stonehenge inspired Ginny Tompkins to paint this series of isolated views of the great towering stones, conveying a sense of timeless and sacred presence on our earth.

"When I saw the 1983 Stonehenge series in Ginny's home it was like walking among and under the great stones. She had placed the large paintings very high on a wall, five of them grouped together. The stones towered over me with their strong presence as in the old sacred ground.
